René Lacoste got tired of starched collars getting in his way mid-match on the tennis court, so in 1926 he cut his own down to something that could move. It caught on fast — soon it wasn't just his — and the polo went from a tennis player's fix to the shirt everyone reached for. A century later, the idea hasn't changed much — a shirt that could go from working to somewhere else without a change of clothes.
That's still the whole appeal. Not formal, not sloppy. The one shirt that reads as effort without asking for any.
Ours is cut from American-grown Pima — extra-long staple cotton, the kind that holds its shape and its color through the wear a polo actually gets. On its own in the heat. Under something when it's not. A collar that means what it says and nothing more.

The San Joaquin Valley runs two hundred and fifty miles down the middle of California. Flat ground. Warm springs, hot summers, the kind of dry fall heat that doesn't quit. Cotton has grown there for over a hundred years. The land was made for it.
It grows the soft kind — cotton that gets better the more you wear it. Most of it comes off farms that families have worked for generations. People who know the dirt by name and don't make a thing of it.
